Three people have been arrested after a two-year-old Arkansas girl was killed in a dog attack.
Earnest Jackson, 54, Christina Hart, 41, and MaKayla Jackson, 21, were each arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a minor in connection with the fatal incident, according to a police statement from the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office. It's unclear if they have entered pleas or retained attorneys to speak on their behalf.
Attack and response
Deputies were called to the scene on March 28 after receiving a report of an "animal attack involving a 2-year-old girl." Police told KATV a neighbour's loose dog dragged the girl into the woods. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A police statement reads: "On Saturday, March 28, 2026, at approximately 6:25 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 6000 block of Norman Road in reference to an animal attack involving a 2-year-old girl. Following an extensive investigation by the PCSO Criminal Investigations Division arrests have been made in connection with this incident."
Arrests and dog in custody
The statement continues: "The following individuals have been arrested and charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Minor: MaKayla Jackson, Earnest Jackson, and Christina Hart. The dog believed to have been involved in the attack is in the custody of the Pulaski County Animal Control Division. They are currently being held at the Regional Detention Facility."
Family's grief
The girl's grandmother set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the family to cover the funeral expenses. A message on the page reads: "Celeste was a very smart baby who brought so much joy to our lives. She loved watching Ms. Rachel, Bluey, and Stitch, and her bright spirit touched everyone who knew her. Our family is having a hard time processing this loss, and we are doing our best to support each other as we grieve." So far just over $5,000 has been raised.
