A 16-year-old boy has died in hospital after being struck by a driver while cycling near Birmingham City's St Andrews stadium. The teenager was knocked off his bike on Cattell Rd opposite the stadium at around 5.25am on Friday and died the next day.
Arrest and police appeal
A 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody. West Midlands Police are urging anyone with information or footage to come forward.

Emergency response at the scene
An ambulance service spokeswoman said: “We were called to reports of an RTC involving a car and a pushbike at the junction of Cattell Road and Tilton Road in Nechells, Birmingham, at 5.23am and sent three ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic to the scene.”
“On arrival, a man, the cyclist, was found in a critical condition. He received specialist trauma care before being conveyed under emergency driving conditions to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.”
