Merseyside Police have arrested a teenage boy after members of the public reported seeing him carrying a 'large machete' on Lodge Lane in Toxteth. The incident occurred at around 7:50pm on Saturday, June 27, when police received information from the community about a teenage male brandishing a large knife in the area.
Arrest and Weapon Recovery
Officers quickly located the suspect and recovered a dangerous weapon from his waistband. The teenager, from the local area, was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. He has since been bailed with conditions, including a curfew.
Police Appeal to Community
Neighbourhood Chief Inspector Hamish Rawcliffe praised the community member who reported the incident, stating: “We are grateful to the person who reported this matter to us. I would be keen to encourage people in the community to report any concerns directly to us so we can take positive action.”
Chief Inspector Rawcliffe added: “Our officers are committed to targeting anyone who stores, carries and uses weapons for a criminal purpose. We continue to seek out those involved in serious violence and organised crime, enticing young and vulnerable people to become involved in criminality.”
