A 15-year-old boy has been arrested following two separate incidents in Liverpool parks where a gang armed with knives and a machete threatened teenagers and stole bicycles. The first incident occurred on Monday, July 15, at around 8:30 PM on Walker Playing Fields in West Derby, where three males approached a group of teenagers, threatened a teenage girl with a knife and a machete, and demanded her mobile phone. The gang fled empty-handed along the Loop Line.
Second Incident in Springfield Park
Approximately one hour later, at 9:30 PM, Merseyside Police received a report of a similar incident in Springfield Park on East Prescot Road. Three males threatened two boys with a knife and a machete, stealing their bicycles before again making off along the Loop Line. The victims were left shaken but unharmed.
Arrest and Investigation
Following enquiries, a 15-year-old male from Clubmoor was arrested on suspicion of robbery. He has since been released on bail with conditions. Detectives have released CCTV images of two other males they believe may have information crucial to the investigation.
Detective Inspector Lee Egerton said: “This was a very distressing experience for the three victims who were left in a state of shock and thankfully they were not injured. I am appealing to the two males featured in the images, or anyone who recognises them to please contact us. We believe they could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries. We also encourage people to come forward if you know anything about these incidents which will help with our investigation.”
