Police in West Lothian are investigating a hit-and-run collision involving a cyclist and a white Mercedes SUV on the A704 between West Calder and Forth. The incident occurred at approximately 9.35am on Thursday, June 25, 2026, near West Mains Cottage.
Cyclist struck by wing mirror
The male cyclist was travelling westbound when the SUV overtook him and its wing mirror struck his right elbow. The impact caused the cyclist to lose control and fall from his bicycle. He sustained minor injuries but did not require medical treatment. The SUV driver did not stop and continued westbound.
Police appeal for information
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Road policing officers in Livingston are appealing for information following a crash involving a cyclist and a vehicle on the A704 between West Calder and Forth. The incident happened around 9.35am on Thursday, 25 June, 2026, approximately half a mile west of West Mains Cottages. A male cyclist reported that he was travelling westbound when he was struck on the right elbow by the wing mirror of a white Mercedes SUV as it overtook him. The collision caused the cyclist to lose control and fall from his bicycle. The cyclist sustained minor injuries and did not require medical treatment. The vehicle involved did not stop at the scene and continued westbound. Enquiries are ongoing and officers are keen to speak to the driver of the vehicle, or anyone who may have witnessed the incident. They are also asking anyone who may have dash-cam footage from the area around the time of the crash to come forward.”
