Mansoor Ahmed, a convicted sex offender, was captured on video sobbing during a police interview after threatening to kill British Transport Police (BTP) officers in a 14-minute phone call. The 31-year-old, of Blackthorn Avenue, West London, was jailed for six months at Inner London Crown Court on Friday.
Threats Made During Call
On May 27, Ahmed phoned the BTP First Contact Centre, provided the crime reference number for his previous convictions, and launched a hate-filled tirade at the call handler. He was furious that his crimes and custody photo had been made public after his conviction for sexually assaulting two women on the London Underground in late 2020, for which he was sentenced to two years in prison.
During the call, Ahmed stated: “I’m coming to stab all of you … I’m coming to stab a transport police officer.” He also made sexually violent threats towards women and children, adding, “when I find one of your transport police officers, I’m going to put acid on his face.”
Arrest and Interview
BTP detectives tracked down Ahmed and arrested him two days later, on May 29. In an audio clip released by the force from his police interview, Ahmed can be heard sobbing as he realized he faced further time in prison. Through tears, he told detectives he had found articles about his sex crimes on Google that called him a “predator” and displayed his mugshot, which caused a “red mist” to descend during the call.
He was remanded in custody before appearing in court, where he received a six-month jail sentence.
Police Response
BTP Detective Constable Lee Smith commented: “Mansoor Ahmed’s threats towards our call handler and officers were frankly disgusting. He’s a career criminal with a string of previous convictions, so it was imperative we caught him soon after the call before he could harm our officers or the public. Once we tracked him down and took him into custody, he quickly changed his tune after realising he was faced with another stint behind bars. This outcome shows we’ll never stand for horrific abuse or threats towards anyone at BTP.”
