A Scottish man has been killed after being shot multiple times on a Caribbean island, leaving his family 'heartbroken'. Daniel Vettrino, 37, from Dysart in Fife, was fatally shot on Canouan island in St Vincent and the Grenadines on Wednesday night. The Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) is investigating the incident, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted.
Details of the Shooting
Police were called to the Gym Hill area at 11:30 pm on Wednesday, where they found Mr Vettrino with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead by the district medical officer. The RSVGPF stated: 'Upon arrival, officers discovered Daniel Vettrino, a 37-year-old technical services manager of Colombia/Scotland, with multiple gunshot wounds about his body. He was subsequently pronounced dead.'
Family Tribute
Mr Vettrino's brother, Robson Vettrino Kolberg, paid tribute on Facebook, describing him as 'a pure soul who only wanted success and happiness for all of those around him'. He added: 'He has touched the lives of so many people, from his hometown in Fife to all corners of this world. A unique individual, made up of so many qualities and quirks, especially his impeccable ability to drink anyone under the table.' The family is working to bring his body home and will arrange a final farewell.
Ongoing Investigation
The RSVGPF confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and a post-mortem will determine the exact cause of death. The Foreign Office is supporting the family of the British man. A spokesperson said: 'We are supporting the family of a British man who died in St Vincent and the Grenadines.'
