Salford Man in Coma After Quad Bike Crash on Zante Holiday

Bradley Belhomme, a 20-year-old from Salford, is fighting for his life after a quad bike crash on a lads' holiday to Zante, Greece. The collision with a coach on Friday, July 3, left him with catastrophic head injuries, his family said.

Holiday Turned Tragedy

Bradley had flown to the Greek island with friends on Thursday, July 2. The group rented quad bikes to explore the island. While riding with another friend, he was involved in a serious crash. The friend was also hospitalised but later released.

His mother, Leanne Rabbetts, said: "He went on the holiday on Thursday and everything was fine. I spoke to him when he arrived, but then on the Friday afternoon I got the call saying there had been a crash."

Critical Condition and Transfer to Athens

Bradley was initially treated in a Zante hospital but was transferred to a facility in Attica, Athens, due to the severity of his injuries. He is now in intensive care in a coma.

Leanne said: "He has serious head trauma so he's getting better care there. I flew out on Sunday as soon as I could and have been here every day. We can only spend half an hour with him."

Doctors attempted to bring him out of the coma, but he did not respond. A second attempt triggered two fits. An MRI is needed to assess brain damage, but he remains unresponsive.

Uncertainty Over Insurance and Costs

The family believes Bradley had travel insurance but cannot confirm details as they lack access to his phone. They have contacted the British Embassy for support.

Leanne said: "All I really know is that he's been on a quadbike with his friends, and they've all rented them. As he's turned around a corner, I've been told there's been a crash with a coach."

Bradley's uncle, Adam, added: "Because of the head trauma, we don't even know when he will be able to come home or the situation. We can't do anything. We are just waiting for the scan and trying to make sure everything is covered at the moment, because if the insurance is invalid it's a big bill."

Community Support and Fundraising

Friends and the local community have rallied to support the family. Fundraising events and walks have been organised, and a GoFundMe page has been set up to cover hospital bills.

Adam said: "At the moment the main thing is Bradley and making sure he is okay and eventually getting him up and home. The local community and friends have all donated and have been brilliant. Bradley is a loveable lad who has gone away to have a lads' holiday and enjoy himself."
