Salford Industrial Estate Blaze Sends Smoke for Miles

Firefighters are tackling a huge blaze at an industrial estate in Salford, with smoke visible for miles around. The fire broke out in Irlam on the afternoon of July 19, prompting a major response from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS).

Firefighters Called at 4:45 PM

Crews were called out at about 4:45 PM to Brinell Drive, Irlam. Six fire engines from across Greater Manchester were dispatched to the scene. The fire involved a large number of pallets, according to GMFRS.

A spokesperson for GMFRS said: “Shortly after 4:45 this afternoon (Sunday 19th July), six fire engines from across Greater Manchester were called to fire on Brinell Drive, Irlam. Crews arrived quickly and are currently working to extinguish the fire involving a large number of pallets. Firefighters remain in attendance at this time.”

Smoke Seen from Wigan and Trafford

Residents reported seeing the smoke as far away as Wigan and Trafford, highlighting the scale of the blaze. Firefighters continue to work to contain and extinguish the fire, and remain at the scene.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, and investigations are expected to follow once the blaze is under control.
