Two men charged by counter-terror police following an incident in Salford have been remanded in custody for a further seven days as the investigation continues.
Court appearance and remand
Harley Elliot, 20, of St Brelades Drive, Salford, and McKenzie Smyth, 19, of Grantham Drive, Bury, appeared at Manchester Magistrates Court on September 8. They were remanded to custody for an additional week while police continue their investigation.
Last week, on September 7, the pair were charged with going equipped to cause criminal damage, namely with lighter fuel and spray paint, and possession of an offensive weapon, namely a hammer and a kitchen knife.
Police investigation ongoing
Police said officers were called to Singleton Road in Salford at 1.50am on Sunday, September 6. Counter Terrorism Policing North West are leading the investigation and are working with Greater Manchester Police.
Both men are due to appear in court on September 21. No pleas were entered and there were no applications for bail as the court was told a police investigation is ongoing.
Chair of the bench Ronald Marshal told the court he believes the police are using time expeditiously as they continue their investigation. The case follows a hearing last week where it was adjourned and the defendants were remanded into custody.
