Police are appealing for help to find a wanted man from Widnes who has been convicted of domestic abuse. Scott McGuffie, 43, is wanted for breaching a protection from harassment order after previously being sentenced to three years in jail.
Conviction and Sentence
McGuffie appeared at Liverpool Crown Court in May 2024, where he was sentenced for harassing a woman and releasing sexual videos of her. He admitted disclosing private sexual images of his former partner with intent to cause distress.
Prosecutor Joanne Maxwell described how he incessantly called his former partner from withheld numbers. This led to a non-molestation order in May 2023, banning him from contacting her for six months. However, in the early hours of August 26, she awoke to knocking at her door and saw McGuffie outside. He fled when she called police, returned after officers left, entered via the back gate, and left again as she dialled 999.
Continued Harassment
McGuffie then resumed calling her anonymously almost every night, sometimes dozens of times in one evening. When she answered on one occasion, he said: "You're going to get jumped. My daughter's going to get stabbed. You're a s*** mum."
On September 19, he sent a video of himself and his then girlfriend having sex to her new boyfriend via WhatsApp. Phone records showed he called her 61 times in nine days later that month. At the sentencing, he admitted breaching the non-molestation order.
Previous Convictions
McGuffie has 17 previous convictions for 16 offences, including a 12-week sentence in September 2023 for assaulting an emergency services worker and criminal damage. He is described as 5'10" tall, medium build, with short brown hair and blue eyes. He lives in Widnes and has links to Warrington, Halewood, and Liverpool.
