South Wales Police have confirmed that a person who was not inside a vehicle at the time suffered injuries in a two-car collision on the A4232 in Cardiff, leading to a road closure that lasted more than four hours on Thursday evening.
Crash Details and Response
Emergency services were called to the A4232 northbound between Leckwith and Culverhouse Cross at 6.20pm on Thursday, June 26. The collision involved two cars and resulted in one individual being taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. Another person was also taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
The incident caused significant traffic disruption, with both sides of the A4232 closed for an extended period. Motorists faced standstill traffic on what was recorded as the hottest day of the year, with some drivers exiting their vehicles to cool off.
Road Reopening and Impact
The southbound carriageway reopened at approximately 8.45pm, while the northbound side remained closed overnight before reopening later. The closures also led to increased congestion on surrounding roads in Cardiff, which experienced heavier traffic than usual.
