One person was taken to hospital following a crash on the A690 in County Durham, which led to the closure of Commercial Street in Willington for a period and caused a build-up of traffic on the town's main road.
The collision occurred between Teasdales Yard and Stony Bank, with congestion also reported on the latter road. The incident happened just before 7.40am on Wednesday morning, impacting commuters travelling to work.
Ambulance response and patient care
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to a road traffic incident on the A690 in Willington, Crook on Wednesday 26 August at 7:41am. We dispatched one ambulance crew to the incident."
The spokesperson added: "One patient was treated and discharged on scene and one patient was taken to University Hospital of North Durham for further treatment."
Traffic update and ongoing enquiries
The latest traffic update from the scene stated: "Road cleared and traffic returned to normal, accident cleared on A690 Low Willington Eastbound from Teasdales Yard to Stony Bank. Westbound has already been re-opened."
