Police in Ellisville, Mississippi, arrested a 22-year-old woman for driving erratically while completely naked, leading to the discovery of drugs and modified firearms in her vehicle. Katelyn Maxwell was pulled over on July 12, 2026, at approximately 9:39 p.m. after officers observed her driving a 2017 Dodge Challenger carelessly.
Details of the Traffic Stop
According to the Jones County Sheriff's Department, when officers approached the vehicle, they found Maxwell nude and appearing intoxicated. The arrest report states: "I attempted to explain to the driver... the reason for the contact. However, I noticed that Ms. Maxwell was nude." Officers gave her an opportunity to dress, but she struggled to step out of the car. During the encounter, police spotted a Glock handgun at her feet and another between the passenger seat and center console.
Discovery of Weapons and Drugs
A search of the vehicle revealed marijuana, a third Glock in the trunk, and two AR-15 rifles, one of which was fitted with a "switch" to make it fully automatic. Maxwell told police her boyfriend, Shon Cooley, 24, used a 3D printer to create such conversion devices. A subsequent search of Cooley's home led to his arrest for possession of machine gun conversion devices, and officers seized multiple firearms.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
Maxwell faces charges including DUI refusal, possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle while in possession of a firearm, careless driving, no seatbelt, and possession of a modified weapon. Cooley is charged with possession of machine gun conversion devices. Both are held in Jones County Jail on $35,000 bond each.
