Police in Bedfordshire have launched a murder investigation after a mother and her two children were found dead at a property in Great Denham. Officers forced entry into a house on Carnoustie Drive on Monday, where they discovered the bodies of the three victims.
Suspect Believed to Have Left the UK
According to Bedfordshire Police, a suspect known to the victims is believed to have left the country. Assistant Chief Constable John Murphy described the incident as deeply distressing and stated that the force is committing all necessary resources to the investigation.
“This is a deeply distressing incident in which a mother and her two children are believed to have been murdered,” Murphy said. “Our thoughts are first and foremost with all those affected. We recognise that this will cause concern in the local community and beyond.”
No Wider Risk to the Public
Police have emphasised that the suspect was known to all three victims and that there is no wider risk to the public. They are increasing police presence in and around the area to support the investigation and provide reassurance to residents.
“This is the early stages of what is an incredibly complex investigation,” Murphy added. “We are committing all necessary resources to establish exactly what has happened and to find the person responsible.”
Appeal for Information
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident, or who may have heard or seen suspicious activity in Carnoustie Drive, particularly on Friday and Saturday, to come forward. “Any information, no matter how small, could help our investigation,” police said.
The community has been left in shock by the tragedy, and police are working to support the family and neighbours. The investigation is ongoing, and further updates are expected as enquiries progress.
