Man stabbed to death outside Brent Civic Centre near Wembley

A man has been stabbed to death just yards from a council headquarters close to Wembley Stadium. The knife attack took place just outside Brent Civic Centre at 2.25pm on Tuesday.

Evacuation and witness accounts

Council workers were reportedly evacuated from their offices, as well as people from the library. Witnesses reported seeing spatterings of blood on the pavement outside after the stabbing.

One witness posted on social media: 'I was at the exact same place where the stabbing happened and had gone up to the first floor about ten minutes earlier. A staff member walked into the meeting room and told us to evacuate because someone had been stabbed. What I witnessed on the way down was unreal.'

Emergency response

A London Ambulance spokesperson said: 'We were called at 2:25pm to reports of a stabbing at Brent Civic Centre, Wembley, HA9. We sent an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London's Air Ambulance. Sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a patient was pronounced dead at the scene.'

As well as council offices, the building is home to Brent's Wembley Library and The Drum at Wembley – and holds all council meetings. This is a breaking news story.
