Toddler, 2, rushed to hospital after dog attack in Glasgow

A two-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being attacked by a dog at a property in Glasgow. The incident happened at a home on Mybster Place in the Govan area of the city at around 10am on Monday, October 26.

Emergency services, including Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service, responded to reports that a toddler had been mauled. The young boy was rushed to hospital for treatment, though the extent of his injuries and his current condition are not yet known. The dog involved was euthanised.

Police Investigation Launched

Police Scotland have launched an investigation into what happened. A spokesperson for the force said: "Around 9.55am on Monday, October 26, 2026, we were called to a report of a two-year-old boy being attacked by a dog within a property on Mybster Place in Glasgow."

"The child was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment to injuries. The dog was euthanised. Enquiries are ongoing."

Rise in Dog Attacks

The incident comes as dog attacks have hit a record high, with statistics released last week showing more than two attacks by canines every day on average in 2025. The 880 police call-outs marked a significant rise from the year before.

In a separate incident reported previously, Tanya Kanstantsinava, 38, was attacked by a Bully-type dog on September 5 last year. The dog reportedly leapt on her and bit her neck after its owner allegedly instructed it to attack her on her doorstep in Coatbridge. Tanya's 14-year-old daughter was bitten on the lip while trying to help, and the ordeal ended when Tanya's partner, Andrejs, forced the dog's jaws open. Tanya said she was "lucky to be alive".

In another case, little Nicholas Quintero suffered facial injuries after a dog lunged at him during a surprise birthday party at Leith Links. His mother, Maria Cedeno, said she heard screams and found blood gushing from her son's face. Nick pointed to a Bulldog-type dog, and he was later taken to hospital for surgery due to the severity of his injuries. Maria claims the dog's owners attempted to hide the incident from police and initially denied any wrongdoing, and she said the attack has left her son "traumatised".
