A man in his 30s is being treated for serious injuries in hospital after a stabbing in Middleton town centre on November 5. Greater Manchester Police officers were called to Middleton Gardens at around 2.20pm following reports of a stabbing close to Middleton Shopping Centre.
Police cordon and road closure
Eyewitnesses reported a large cordon around the rear of the shopping centre, with Limetrees Road closed to traffic and multiple police vehicles parked within the cordon. Images from the scene showed three police vehicles near the cordon and what appeared to be discarded clothing on a pavement.
Officers from Greater Manchester Police were seen making door-to-door inquiries in the aftermath of the incident, and witnesses were spoken to at the scene. The closure of Limetrees Road led to significant congestion in Middleton town centre.
No arrests yet
Greater Manchester Police said the man has been taken to hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries. No arrests have yet been made in relation to the incident, and enquiries are ongoing.
A GMP spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a stabbing shortly after 2.20pm at Middleton Gardens, Middleton. A man in his 30s has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."
