A man arrested following the death of a woman in a farm fire in Rochdale has been released without charge, police have confirmed. Laura Foulis died in the blaze at Higher Tunshill Farm, off Tunshill Lane in Milnrow, on Friday, July 3.
Emergency Response and Arrest
Emergency services, including police, firefighters, and paramedics, were called to the scene at around 12:30pm. A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of murder on the same day. However, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have now stated that he has been released with no further action to be taken against him at this time.
Investigation Findings
Detectives believe there was no third-party involvement in Laura's death. The circumstances surrounding the incident will now be referred to the coroner, and an inquest will take place in due course, according to GMP.
Tributes to Laura Foulis
Following the tragedy, tributes poured in on social media for the mother, who was described as a 'beautiful' soul and credited with inspiring people's love of horses. Millie Hunter said: "My heart is truly broken, you were such a kind soul Laura. You made such an impact on me growing up and being confident in my own ability and passion for horses. The kids will always know and remember how amazing you are. Sending so much love to the family." Leah Sykes posted: "Thank you for believing in me when I didn't believe in myself, for pushing me to be better and helping me to fall in love with horses all over again! You're one of a kind and such a kind soul that will be missed by so many!"
