Mohammed Osman, 37, has been jailed for 27 months after he was caught sending inappropriate images and videos to what he thought was a 14-year-old girl. The victim was, in fact, a decoy operated by two women.
Details of the Offence
Between February 15 and March 17, 2026, Osman believed he was communicating with a teenager named Olivia. Despite being told she was 14, he continued to engage in sexual communication, sending explicit images and videos of himself and asking for similar content in return.
Osman, of no fixed address, appeared at Chester Crown Court on June 29, where he was sentenced after pleading guilty to three charges: attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, causing or inciting a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity, and attempting to cause a child aged 13 to 15 to watch or look at an image of sexual activity.
Sentence and Court Outcome
He was sentenced to 27 months in prison and handed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order. The sentence aims to protect the public and deter similar offending.
Police Comment
DC Anna Lightfoot of Cheshire Police said: “The ‘decoy’ made it quite clear she was under the age of consent, but he continued to ask her about her sexual preferences and to send over naked images while sending shocking images of himself.
“Even though the people at the other end of the computer screen were adults - he did not know that and continued with his sickening and predatory behaviour, clearly under the impression he was genuinely talking to a 14-year-old girl.
“I hope this sentencing goes as a warning to others who think it is okay to prey on young girls for their own sexual gratification – you never know who you’re talking to online.”
