A man has died in hospital following a stabbing at the Banana Flats in Edinburgh, and a 33-year-old man has been arrested by police. Emergency crews, including Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service, responded to reports of a disturbance outside Cables Wynd House in Leith at around 9.45pm on Sunday, July 5. Upon arrival, officers found a man with serious injuries. He was rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh but died shortly afterward.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.45pm on Sunday, 5 July, 2026 police received a report of a disturbance outside Cables Wynd House, Edinburgh. Officers attended and a man was found with serious injuries. He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he died a short time later. A 33-year-old man has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing.”
