Man critical after wrong-way M1 crash near junction 41

A man is fighting for his life after a car was driven the wrong way on the M1 and crashed into another vehicle.

The incident happened just after 11pm on Friday (September 11) on the northbound carriageway near junction 41 in Yorkshire.

Blue Kia hits red Dacia

Police said a blue Kia Proceed was driven the wrong way on the motorway after failing to stop, before hitting a red Dacia Sandero, the Mirror reports.

The driver of the Dacia, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries which are being treated as potentially life changing, West Yorkshire Police said.

Three arrested after crash

One person left the scene, while three passengers suffered minor injuries.

Three arrests have been made, including a man aged 18; a girl aged 15; and a 30-year-old woman.

They have all been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and remain in custody.

The woman was further arrested for being over the prescribed limit, the police said.
