Man City fans remain loyal despite 114 charges verdict
Man City fans loyal despite 114 charges verdict

Manchester City fans gathered outside the Etihad Stadium on October 17 for the first home league game since the club was found guilty of 114 of 115 charges for alleged breaches of financial rules. Despite the verdict and the looming appeal process, many supporters expressed unwavering loyalty to the team.

Fans show support despite verdict

John Birchengoh, a season ticket holder, said he would continue to support the team regardless of the final decision. "We'll still support them even when we're in division two or they're playing Ramsbottom United or Ashton FC," he said.

Another supporter, Simon, said he believed City would "get away with it [or] most of it," citing the club's resources. "They've denied it because they've got evidence. Whereas everybody else, who's been found guilty has admitted it. I think City have stretched the laws, not necessarily broken them," he added.

Appeal process raises concerns

However, some fans expressed worries. Colin, 56, said the situation was "super concerning," noting that the chance of winning the appeal "doesn't sound great." He also questioned the fairness of the process, saying, "You've got one team against 19 and you've got a committee of exec from other clubs - it's not necessarily completely neutral is it?"

Steve, another fan, admitted he was still concerned about the outcome. "I would like to believe we can support our chairman. Let's face it, these rules were settled by teams who didn't want us to succeed," he said. "As to how I'm feeling - still worried."

Many fans declined to comment on the allegations, but the atmosphere outside the stadium showed strong support, with numerous supporters carrying inflatable bananas, a symbol of backing for the club during adversity.
