A man has been charged with causing death by careless driving after an 86-year-old died following a crash in Warrington.
Robert Gilbert, 62, of Widnes, is due to appear at Warrington Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, November 10. He was arrested after an investigation into the collision.
Crash on Southworth Lane
Emergency services were called to the scene near the junction of Southworth Lane and Delph Lane in Croft, Warrington, on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Officers found a crash involving a silver Peugeot 2008 and a blue Ford Fiesta.
The driver of the Peugeot, Gordon Cooper, died nine days later at Salford Royal Hospital as a result of his injuries. Gilbert, who was driving the Ford, was also injured in the crash.
Charge and court date
Following the investigation, Gilbert was charged with causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving. He is scheduled to appear in court later this year.
