Llangollen Playground Develops Strong Urine Smell After Toilet Closure
Llangollen Playground Urine Smell After Toilet Closure

A Llangollen town councillor has raised concerns over the continued closure of public toilets at Riverside Park, claiming it has led to children urinating outdoors and creating a strong smell of urine. Councillor Lee Todd stated that parents have been forced to take their children to the side of the building block due to the lack of available facilities.

Councillor's Report

Cllr Todd has written to Denbighshire County Council, emphasizing that Riverside Park is one of the town's most popular family attractions. He noted receiving regular reports from residents about the issue. "Unfortunately, I am receiving regular reports that, due to the lack of available toilet facilities, parents are having to take young children around the side of the building to relieve themselves," he said.

He added that this is now causing a strong smell of urine in the area, which is unpleasant for families using the park and for customers visiting the nearby café. Following further reports, he requested an update on when the toilets would be repaired and brought back into use.

Council Response

A spokesman for Denbighshire County Council commented: "Riverside Park Toilet facility has been closed due to technical issues at the facility. Going forward the toilet will be open at weekends and during the summer holidays." The council also plans a full refurbishment of the Riverside Park toilet facility during the autumn.
