King Charles has reportedly "snapped back" at his son Prince Harry by revoking an invitation to stay at Buckingham Palace after the Duke of Sussex failed to respond quickly enough. The 41-year-old prince, who has begun a UK visit for the Invictus Games, was branded "selfish" and an "entitled individual" during a scathing segment on GB News.
GB News Rant Over Harry's 'Entitled' Behaviour
Journalist Carole Malone, speaking to host Alex Armstrong on GB News, addressed reports that Harry wanted a reconciliation visit with his father, including bringing Meghan Markle and their children. Malone said: "He's a selfish, entitled individual. He was invited to stay, and he said 'no' because he thought it wasn't secure enough, one of the most secure buildings on the planet. Then a few days later he changed his mind and said 'oh yes, actually I do want to stay there,' and they said 'no, get lost.'"
Malone continued: "Charles has quite rightly snapped. Will has been warning Charles about Harry for months and said, 'stop bending over to accommodate him, he's only going to mess about,' and that's exactly what he's done. He's faffed about, he could've come here with no fuss with Meghan and the kids, stayed with the King and got the reconciliation, he says he wants. But he doesn't, he just wants his own way."
Palace Denies Accommodation Claims
The confusion began when Harry's camp announced he would stay at Buckingham Palace during his visit to London and Birmingham for the Invictus Games. Minutes later, Buckingham Palace denied the claim. In response, a spokesman for Prince Harry released a statement on Monday, July 6, condemning the move.
The statement read: "I am aware of multiple briefings from Buckingham Palace last week suggesting that the Duke had not accepted the offer of accommodation at a Royal Residence. Following RAVEC’s decision not to provide security for his family, the Duke spent last week making alternative security arrangements. Once those arrangements were in place, he was able to formally accept the offer of accommodation for himself over the weekend. It is therefore disappointing that the offer has now been withdrawn, with Tuesday’s judgment in the Associated Newspapers Limited case cited as the reason. Buckingham Palace has, however, been aware of that judgment since last Thursday. It is therefore unclear why, having formally accepted the accommodation offer, it has now been withdrawn at the last moment."
Impact on Royal Relations
The incident has further strained relations between Prince Harry and the royal family, with commentators suggesting the King's firm stance marks a shift in how he handles his younger son. Malone concluded on GB News: "The man is 41 years old, and he's a child. He's still throwing his toys out of the pram, he just wants to get his own way, and I'm really glad the King has said 'no.'"
