A Pennsylvania man who brutally murdered his wife with a knife and hammer has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. James Christopher Frank, 58, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the killing of his 55-year-old wife, Deborah Glaser, at their home in Bethlehem Township.
The Crime
On March 11, 2025, police were dispatched to the couple's residence after a concerned relative reported being worried about the occupants. Officers arrived to find the home silent and, after receiving no response, used a ladder to access a second-story window. Inside, they spotted Frank.
When ordered to open the door, Frank coldly told police, "My wife is dead in the bathtub," according to a probable cause affidavit. Officers entered and found Glaser in the bathroom with multiple stab wounds. Various cutting instruments, including knives, razor blades, box cutters, a hammer, and a mallet, were discovered at the scene.
Frank's Confession
Frank provided a detailed account of the attack. He admitted to using a steak knife to cut Glaser's throat while she was still alive. He then used a knife and a hammer to puncture her chest and heart approximately 10 times, telling officers he did so to "ensure Glaser was deceased." Glaser was pronounced dead at the scene.
District Attorney Stephen Baratta noted that Frank had failed to show up for work the day before and the day of the murder. He described the injuries as "gruesome" and said it appeared Glaser had been dead for many hours before police arrived.
Sentencing
Frank was sentenced to life without parole after pleading guilty to first-degree murder. The case highlights the tragic consequences of domestic violence and the brutal nature of the crime.
