Singer Jelly Roll called Donald Trump a "fat pig" on national television while filling in for Jimmy Kimmel on his late-night show on Monday. The country music star used his own weight-loss experience to comment on the president's health, referencing a recent Washington Post report that claimed doctors were concerned about Trump's weight.
Singer's personal advice
Jelly Roll, who has lost around 275 pounds, dropping from a peak weight of roughly 540 pounds to about 265 pounds, pointed out that Trump is now pushing 240 pounds. He offered advice directly to the president, saying: "From one fat pig to another, take it from me that physical fitness is very important. And trust me, you'll be happy to see your penis again."
His monologue was accompanied by a montage of footage showing Trump mocking other people's bodies over the years.
Health report details
Doctors are said to be worried about an apparent risk to Trump's health after he reportedly gained 23 pounds since the 2024 election campaign. Records from August 2023, when he was charged in Georgia in an election interference case, listed his weight at 215 pounds (15.35 stone). However, a White House medical report from May this year stated he weighed 238 pounds (17 stone).
This would put him only 1.6 pounds (0.11 stone) from being classified as "obese". According to the NHS BMI calculator, Trump's BMI is 29.7, which is classed as "overweight".
Doctors' urging
The Washington Post reported that White House doctors have urged the president to lose weight by improving his diet and doing sustained physical activity. Scott Kahan, director of the National Center for Weight and Wellness and a George Washington University physician, told the newspaper: "We know that obesity is a strong risk factor for numerous health issues - as well as premature disability and death. Addressing obesity to protect the president's health should be a priority similar to ensuring Secret Service protections for his life."
Obesity specialist Gitanjali Srivastava also commented: "BMI is a great screening tool, but it's not everything."
