Olivia Jean, the wife of White Stripes frontman Jack White, has filed for divorce after four years of marriage, citing 'inappropriate marital conduct' and claiming she no longer feels safe living with the 50-year-old musician. The petition was filed on June 3, according to TMZ.
Details of the Divorce Filing
In her petition, the 36-year-old singer-songwriter stated that White is 'guilty of inappropriate marital conduct, which makes further cohabitation unsafe and improper.' She also noted that she depends on his income for bills and requested to remain on his life insurance policy despite the split.
The Whirlwind On-Stage Wedding
The couple married in a spontaneous ceremony on stage during White's concert at Detroit's Masonic Temple in 2022. After performing Hotel Yorba together, White dropped to one knee and a minister joined them to officiate the wedding. Despite the impulsive nature of the event, the pair had known each other since 2009, when Jean signed to Third Man Records. She fronted the band The Black Belles before going solo under his label. Their relationship remained platonic for years as White was married to his second wife, Karen Elson, from 2005 to 2013.
Jack White's Previous Marriages
White was previously married to his White Stripes bandmate Meg White from 1996 to 2000. During the band's early years, they claimed to be siblings, a story they maintained even after their divorce and throughout the band's career. Meg White has largely stayed out of the public eye since the band disbanded in 2011, with a friend telling Elle that 'Meg really doesn't think she feels up for any interviews. She never liked them.' White has always praised Meg, but hopes for a White Stripes reunion have been abandoned by fans and seemingly by White himself.
