Girl, 4, Dies in Nottingham Car Crash; Man Arrested

A four-year-old girl has died following a car crash in Gotham, Nottinghamshire, on Sunday afternoon. A 59-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed pending further inquiries.

Crash Details and Emergency Response

Emergency services were called to Nottingham Road in Gotham at 2.28pm on July 12 after reports of a collision. The young girl sustained serious injuries in the crash and was rushed to hospital, where she tragically died a short time later.

Nottinghamshire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is leading the investigation and has appealed for witnesses, particularly anyone who was driving in the area at the time and may have captured the incident on dashcam.

Police Appeal and Family Privacy

Sergeant Paul Clark said in a statement: "This is a deeply tragic incident and our thoughts are with the young girl's loved ones at this unimaginably difficult time." He urged the public not to speculate on social media and to respect the family's privacy as they come to terms with their loss.

"We'd like to appeal for any witnesses to this incident to please come forward, including anyone with dashcam footage which could help our investigation," Clark added. "If you have any information in relation to this incident, please get in contact with us quoting incident 424 of 12 July."

Investigation Ongoing

The arrested man has been questioned and released on bail while inquiries continue. Police are working to establish the full circumstances of the crash and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
