Girl, 4, Dies in Gotham Crash; Driver, 59, Arrested

A four-year-old girl has died following a collision with a car in Gotham, Nottinghamshire, on Sunday afternoon. Emergency services were called to Nottingham Road shortly before 2:30pm after reports of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

The girl was rushed to hospital but succumbed to her injuries a short time later. Nottinghamshire Police confirmed the tragic death and announced that a 59-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was questioned and subsequently released on bail pending further enquiries.

Investigation Underway

The Serious Collision Investigation Unit of Nottinghamshire Police has launched a full investigation into the circumstances of the crash. Officers are appealing for witnesses, particularly those who were driving in the area at the time and may have dashcam footage that could assist the inquiry.

Sergeant Paul Clark of Nottinghamshire Police said: "This is a deeply tragic incident and our thoughts are with the young girl's loved ones at this unimaginably difficult time. The circumstances are being investigated and we would ask people not to speculate on social media."

Appeal for Witnesses

Police have urged anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing the importance of respecting the family's privacy as they grieve. Sergeant Clark added: "I would also ask the privacy of the family is respected as they come to terms with what has happened. We’d like to appeal for any witnesses to this incident to please come forward, including anyone with dashcam footage which could help our investigation."
