Four teachers were reportedly injured after an airsoft grenade was thrown through a window during an anti-terrorism drill at School No. 21 in Serkovo, a village in the Shchyolkovo region near Moscow. The grenade detonated inside the building, sending sharp debris that struck nearby teachers, according to the Telegram channel Baza.

Emergency services rushed to the scene following the blast. An investigation into the exact circumstances has been launched. Four staff members required medical attention after the incident, reports RU Life.
Nationwide security exercises
The incident occurred during nationwide security exercises being rolled out across Russian schools and kindergartens. The drills are designed to prepare teachers, administrators and security guards for scenarios including hostage crises, petrol bomb attacks and drone strikes. Deputy Minister of Education Alexander Bugayev said the drills mark the first time kindergartens have been included in the nationwide anti-terror programme.
Context of heightened security
More than 76,000 schools have already completed the training, as Russian authorities clamp down on security threats. The safety drive follows high-level security talks led by Vladimir Putin, who met with FSB chief Alexander Bortnikov, Sergei Shoigu and Dmitry Medvedev to discuss tightening defences. The exercises come amid escalating tensions after a wave of Ukrainian deep-strikes on Russia using long-distance drones, hitting oil refineries, naval bases and logistics hubs, with some attacks reaching more than 1,000 miles over the border, causing fuel shortages and rolling blackouts. Russia has also warned that Britain will face severe consequences after UK-made drones were reportedly deployed by Ukrainian forces for the first time.
