A Florida woman has been arrested after allegedly tracking down her boyfriend and shooting the woman he was with, telling police she fired to “make a point” about his infidelity.
Alleged Shooting in Port St. John
Katherine Kelly, 25, of Cocoa, is accused of using an Uber to reach the location where her boyfriend, Elijah Baker, had parked her Volkswagen during a late-night trip on Friday. According to a police report obtained by Space Coast Daily, Kelly had earlier messaged Baker about her suspicions he was being unfaithful and made threats to shoot someone.
Police said Kelly found Baker in nearby Port St. John with another woman, Angel Adenau. She then fired into the passenger side of the vehicle with a pink-and-black Glock pistol, striking Adenau in the shoulder. The severity of Adenau’s injuries was not disclosed.
Charges and Admission
Kelly initially claimed she acted in self-defence, but later admitted to officers that she fired the weapon to “make a point” about Baker’s infidelity, according to the report.
She faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, which carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison. Inmate records show she was also charged with aggravated battery with a weapon and shooting into a vehicle.
