Three fire engines were deployed to a house on Didsbury Park in Manchester after a blaze broke out in the basement on Thursday evening. The fire has since been extinguished, but crews remain at the scene.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said three fire engines from Withington and Wythenshawe fire stations were called to the property shortly after 6.51pm on Thursday 27 August. Pictures from the scene show firefighters tending to the fire.

A spokesperson for GMFRS said: “Shortly after 6:51pm this evening (Thursday 27 August), three fire engines from Withington and Wythenshawe fire stations were called to reports of a fire in the basement of a house on Didsbury Park in Manchester.
“Crews arrived quickly at the scene. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel, an electric fan and a positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the fire.
“Crews have been in attendance for over 40 minutes and remain at the scene.”
