Family Pays Tribute After Man Dies Two Years Following Assault

Ramon Logan, a 42-year-old father of four, has died two years after being brutally assaulted on a night out in Oldham, prompting a murder investigation. His wife Charlotte paid tribute, saying he "fought so hard" and is now "at peace."

Attack After Euros Final

Ramon had been watching the Euros final on 14 July 2024 at a local rugby club before heading into Oldham. In the early hours of 15 July, he was attacked on Yorkshire Street. CCTV showed Sebastian Jones leaving a nightclub and striking Ramon, who fell to the ground, where Jones continued the assault as he lay defenceless.

Injuries and Conviction

Ramon suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to hospital in critical condition. He never fully recovered. Jones was arrested a week later in Bury and charged with section 18 assault. Following a trial, Jones, of Dickens Street, Oldham, was found guilty and sentenced to seven years in prison.

Detective Superintendent Walker of GMP's Oldham district said: "The level of violence displayed by Jones was completely unacceptable and cowardly. The victim was defenceless on the ground, and Jones carried out a sustained attack, causing significant injuries which have left a lasting impact on the victim and his family. Ray never stopped fighting to get better."

Death and Murder Investigation

Ramon passed away on 30 June, two years after the attack. Greater Manchester Police have launched a murder investigation. A Home Office post-mortem has been completed, and additional reviews are underway to establish the cause of death.

In a statement, Charlotte said: "It is with a broken heart I announce the passing of my beautiful husband, Ray Logan, on June 30. Ray was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend to many, and will be missed immensely by everyone who knew him... Ray never stopped fighting to get better for the last two years, all we can wish for now is that he gets the justice he deserves."

Friend Dale Lowe wrote online: "I can't believe I'm writing this. I'm heartbroken. For the last two years, you fought so hard for a different outcome... Thank you for the memories, and thank you for being a true friend." Jodie Chadwick added: "I have never witnessed strength like it the fight you gave! But you are finally free from all suffering."

No arrests have been made in the murder investigation. Detective Inspector Andy Day said: "We know how difficult and painful the last two years have been for Ramon's family, and we are continuing to support them following his death last week. We have now launched a murder investigation, and are keeping his family updated as we progress our enquiries."
