Disturbing footage circulating on social media captured the panic as travelers found themselves caught in the crossfire. Eyewitnesses described a heavy shootout inside the airport terminal, with several people shot. One witness reported seeing distraught bystanders trying to help the wounded and deceased.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 17, near the entrance of the international arrivals area. According to local reports, the deceased victim, believed to be the intended target, had just landed when armed assailants opened fire. His wife was present during the attack. The injured survivor was rushed to a hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Arrests Made
A source from Ecuador's Ministry of the Interior confirmed to local news outlet PRIMICIAS that two individuals were arrested in the airport's parking lot shortly after the shooting. Authorities are investigating the motive behind the attack.
