Two children, aged one and two, were taken to hospital after police visited a home in Kirton, Lincolnshire, following welfare concerns. A 23-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of neglect and released on bail with conditions.
Police Respond to Welfare Concerns
Lincolnshire Police attended an address on Dennis Estate, Kirton, on Wednesday, 8 July, after receiving reports about the welfare of two children. The youngsters were transported to hospital for medical treatment and remained there as of Thursday night.
Detective Inspector Claire Rimmer described the investigation as "complex" and stated that a "significant number of inquiries" would be conducted. She urged the public not to speculate, as it could undermine evidence and affect the investigation.
Arrests and Bail Conditions
The two arrested individuals were released on bail with conditions while inquiries continue. The police statement confirmed: "Two people, a woman aged 23 and a man aged 25 were arrested on suspicion of neglect. They have been bailed with conditions while our investigation is ongoing."
DI Rimmer emphasised that the children are the most important focus: "The most important people in this investigation are two children, who have a right to anonymity and the best care anyone can give."
