A man has been caught on CCTV following a mother and her daughter in a Cardiff shopping centre before filming under the young woman's skirt.
Police were called to St David's 2 shopping centre in Cardiff after a woman reported that a stranger had walked alongside her and her daughter, then filmed up her daughter's skirt before running away.
CCTV Tracks Down Suspect
Detectives examined the shopping centre's CCTV and tracked the suspect to his car in nearby Fitzalan Road. The driver of the car was 39-year-old Alex Allegretto, and police later went to his address to arrest him.
Allegretto, of Heol-Y-Bryn, Llangynwyd, Maesteg, pleaded guilty to operating a mobile phone beneath the clothing of another person for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification in relation to the offence, which happened last month.
Court Sentencing
He was sentenced at Cardiff Magistrates' Court on August 5 and ordered to sign the sex offenders' register for five years, carry out 140 hours of unpaid work, and complete rehabilitation activity requirements.
Sergeant Luis Antony of South Wales Police said: "Everyone has the right to feel safe, wherever they are, and nobody should be subjected to this kind of offence.
"This incident continues to have an impact on the victim.
"She is worried about people walking behind her and is anxious when out and about.
"Through extensive CCTV inquiries we were able to track the suspect before, during, and after the offence.
"The footage clearly shows Alex Allegretto's intentions and what he did to this young girl while she was innocently out shopping with her mother.
"We hope the outcome at court provides some comfort to her and allows her to rebuild her confidence."
