A car hit two pedestrians on a busy street in Swansea city centre on Saturday evening, police have said. One woman was taken to hospital following the crash.

Emergency services were called to reports of the collision in High Street at around 10pm on Saturday. A police spokesman said a car hit two pedestrians.

One woman was taken to hospital with her injuries. South Wales Police said it is investigating the incident.

Road closures and police statement

The collision led to multiple roads in Swansea city centre being shut while emergency services responded. The Strand, Welcome Lane, and High Street were all cordoned off, with members of the public asked to avoid the area.

A police statement said: "South Wales Police was called at 10pm on Saturday, August 29, to reports of a car having hit two pedestrians on High Street, Swansea.

"One woman was taken to hospital with her injuries, investigations into the incident are ongoing."

The Welsh Ambulance Service has been approached for comment.
