Three teenagers have been hospitalised after a car was driven into a group of people in Skerries town centre on Saturday evening, following a fight between rival groups. The incident occurred on Harbour Road at approximately 9:30 pm, according to Gardaí.
Incident Details
Footage of the incident shows rival groups of teenagers fighting moments before the collision. A group of youngsters is seen running towards a white BMW with one of its back doors open. The vehicle reverses at speed for around 20 feet before braking hard, then accelerates forward and slams into a group of teens standing at the side of the road. At least one person is thrown into the air upon impact, after which the car speeds away.
Injuries and Response
A Garda spokeswoman confirmed that three teenagers—two females and one male—were injured and taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment. Their injuries are described as non-life threatening. The spokeswoman stated: 'Gardaí in Skerries responded to reports of a public order incident at Harbour Road, Skerries on Saturday night 18th July, 2026. At approximately 9.30pm a large number of youths gathered and a fight broke out. During the course of the incident a car drove at a number of people.'
Investigation Status
Investigations are ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with footage to come forward. The incident has shocked the local community, with horrified passersby witnessing the crash.
