Police have launched an investigation after a car was allegedly driven at a man and a BB gun was fired in a Northumberland town. A 41-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy have been arrested in connection with the incident, which occurred in Alnwick on Sunday evening.

Incident Details

According to Northumbria Police, the altercation took place on Clayport Street at around 6pm. Reports indicate that a vehicle left the road and was driven towards a man who was standing on the pavement. A passenger in the car then discharged a BB gun in his direction before the vehicle fled the scene. The incident is understood to have occurred outside a takeaway establishment.

Police Response

Officers attended the scene promptly and launched an investigation. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Police believe that all parties involved are known to each other, and there is no wider risk to the public.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson stated: 'Just before 6pm on Sunday we received a report of a disturbance in Alnwick. It was reported that an altercation had broken out in the area of Clayport Street, during which a vehicle left the road and was driven towards a man on the pavement. A passenger of the vehicle was also reported to have discharged a BB gun towards the man, before the vehicle drove off from the scene.'

Arrests and Bail

The 41-year-old woman and the 17-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. They have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
