One person has died following a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 26 near Spartanburg, South Carolina, that involved rock band Buckcherry's tour bus. The incident occurred early Friday morning while the band was travelling through the state.
The fatality happened after an individual got out of their vehicle following the crash ahead of the band's bus. None of the band members – singer Josh Todd, guitarists Stevie Dacanay and Billy Rowe, bassist Kelly LeMieux and drummer Francis Ruiz – were injured.
Band's statement and condolences
In a statement, the band said: 'Tragically, authorities have confirmed that the collision that occurred ahead of our bus resulted in a fatality.'
'Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family and loved ones of the person who lost their life.'
It remains unclear how the band's tour bus became involved in the collision.
Context and upcoming shows
The band had performed at The Orange Peel in Asheville, North Carolina, on Thursday night before travelling south, around 70 miles from Spartanburg County, when the fatal crash took place.
Despite the incident, Buckcherry's scheduled show in Fort Lauderdale went ahead as planned, and no changes were announced to upcoming tour dates. The group is currently on their Roar Like Thunder tour, following the release of their latest studio album in 2025.
Band history and recent work
Buckcherry formed in Anaheim, California, in 1995 and became one of the best-known American hard rock acts of the late 1990s and 2000s. After releasing their self-titled debut album in 1999 and Time Bomb in 2001, the group briefly split before frontman Josh Todd and guitarist Keith Nelson revived the band in 2005 with a new line-up.
Their 2006 comeback album, 15, produced hits including Crazy Bitch and Sorry. The band has continued recording and touring, releasing albums such as Black Butterfly, All Night Long, Confessions, Warpaint, Hellbound and Vol. 10. Their latest record, Roar Like Thunder, arrived last year.
