A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman in her 60s was pronounced dead at a house in Burnage, south Manchester, on Wednesday morning.

Greater Manchester Police officers and paramedics were dispatched to Ivylea Road in Burnage at around 8am on July 8 following reports of an assault at a residential address. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim, a woman in her 60s, who was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Officers responded to reports of an assault at an address on Ivylea Road, Burnage at around 8am today (08/07/26). One woman aged in her 60s sadly died at the scene and a boy, aged 16, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody for questioning."
