Boy, 16, accused of stabbing teacher in head in Welsh school

A teenager accused of attempting to murder his teacher with a kitchen knife at a Welsh school has appeared in court. The boy, who was 15 at the time, allegedly stabbed his teacher, Vicky Williams, in the head at Milford Haven Comprehensive School. Prosecutors described the alleged incident on February 5 as a 'murderous attack' during the hearing at Swansea Crown Court yesterday.

Details of the alleged attack

The boy, who is now 16 and cannot be named for legal reasons, allegedly brought the blade into school hidden in his bag. Christopher Rees KC told the court: 'The prosecution say the defendant planned and launched a murderous attack. He deliberately stabbed Vicki Williams in the head.'

The alleged attack unfolded on a Wednesday afternoon after the boy is said to have followed Ms Williams into the empty classroom, according to The Pembrokeshire Herald. The pair are said to have ended up in a struggle, with the boy allegedly pushing her into a chair as she tried to grab the knife.

Injuries and aftermath

Ms Williams suffered a stab wound to the head and defensive injuries to her hands, along with scratches and small cuts, the court was told. She screamed for help, and the teen is said to have fled the scene. The teacher was taken to hospital after emergency services descended on the Pembrokeshire school, which was placed in lockdown. She was discharged later that evening.

School response and trial

Milford Haven School said the 'distressing' incident had been 'unsettling' for the community. In a statement, the school said: 'Following the very distressing incident that took place in school last week, we want to take a moment to acknowledge how unsettling this has been for our whole community. Our priority now is to support pupils, staff and families as we move forward together. We want to reassure you that Milford Haven School remains a safe and caring environment. We are incredibly proud of how bravely, calmly and maturely pupils and staff responded.'

The boy has denied attempted murder, grievous bodily harm with intent and unlawful wounding. He admitted possessing a blade. The three-week trial continues.
