Body Found in Search for Missing Teacher on Isle of Lewis

A body has been discovered in the search for a teacher who went missing on the Isle of Lewis after being accused of sex offences. Police Scotland reported that the body of a man was found in the water in the Lochs area of the island shortly before 1pm on Thursday, June 18.

Formal identification is pending, but the family of the missing individual, 53-year-old Andrew Yearley, has been informed. Yearley, a music teacher at Nicolson Institute, had appeared in court in January on charges related to possession of indecent images. He did not enter a plea and was granted bail.

It is believed that a hidden camera was allegedly discovered in school toilets. A Police Scotland spokesperson stated: "Emergency services attended and the body was recovered. Formal identification has yet to take place, however the family of missing man Andrew Yearley has been informed. The death is being treated as unexplained but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
