Benton Crash Leaves One in Hospital After Air Ambulance Called
Benton Crash: One Hospitalised After Air Ambulance Response

A crash on Benton Road in North Tyneside on Sunday, July 5, resulted in one person being taken to hospital, with the Great North Air Ambulance called to the scene. Emergency services closed the A188 Benton Road in both directions from Balliol Business Park to A191 Benton Park Road, causing slow traffic.

Emergency Response and Road Closure

Traffic cameras showed police tape and cones blocking the area around the junction near Four Lane Ends, which leads to West Farm Avenue and Goathland Avenue. A Forensic Collision Investigation Unit police van was present as officers assessed the road. The North East Ambulance Service confirmed receiving a call at 9:26 am and dispatched an ambulance crew and a specialist paramedic.

Air Ambulance and Hospital Transfer

Support was requested from the Great North Air Ambulance Service, which attended by air. One person was taken by road to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle for further treatment. The road remained cordoned off as investigations continued.
