A nine-month-old baby boy suffered cuts to his face and head after bricks were thrown at a bus on East Prescot Road on Friday night, with a 15-year-old boy later arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage.

Merseyside Police received reports at around 10.10pm on October 30 that a group of masked males had dragged a large piece of wood onto the road, forcing a bus to stop. The group then threw bricks at the vehicle's windows, leaving the baby with injuries.

Arrest and Bail

The 15-year-old boy was arrested nearby and has since been conditionally bailed pending further inquiries, Merseyside Police confirmed.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "A teenager has been arrested after a baby was injured when a brick was thrown at a bus near Alder Hey Children’s Hospital on Friday October 30.

"At around 10.10pm, we received a report that a group of males dressed in black and wearing balaclavas had dragged a large piece of wood onto East Prescot Road, which forced a bus to come to a stop.

"They then threw bricks at the vehicle and smashed a window, which caused cuts to the face and head of a nine-month old baby. He was taken to hospital as a precaution."

Officers attended the scene and arrested the teenager. Five other male suspects were spoken to by officers and either dispersed from the area or taken back home.
