Simon Peter Carman, a 45-year-old Australian man, has been charged with murder in Thailand after the body of a 19-year-old Thai woman was discovered stuffed inside a suitcase. The victim, Thunchanok Donhomla, was reported missing before her remains were found in Pattaya.
CCTV Evidence Reveals Timeline
Pattaya City police released CCTV footage that allegedly captures Carman's movements on the night of the incident. The footage shows Carman and Donhomla holding hands in a condominium lobby shortly after 3:30 a.m. on Thursday. Later that evening, between 9:25 p.m. and 9:48 p.m., Carman is seen dragging a large suitcase out of the building.
Investigation and Arrest
Police launched an investigation after Donhomla's mother reported her missing. The body was found in a suitcase abandoned in a remote area. Carman was apprehended and subsequently charged with murder. Authorities are continuing to gather evidence, including forensic analysis of the suitcase and the condo.
Legal Proceedings
Carman is currently in police custody and is expected to appear in court soon. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment or the death penalty under Thai law. The Australian embassy has been notified and is providing consular assistance.
