Ashley Storrie in Tears After Phone Cut Off Following Mum's Death

BBC star Ashley Storrie was left in tears after her phone was cut off following the death of her mother, comedian Janey Godley, in November 2024. The 32-year-old actress and comedian, known for co-creating and starring in the comedy series Dinosaur and her show What's the Story, Ashley Storrie?, shared her ordeal on social media.

Phone Disconnected After Mum's Death

Storrie revealed that her late mother had been in control of all the family's phone accounts. After Godley's death, Storrie faced the difficult task of transferring the account ownership to her name. In a tearful Instagram video, she said: "I'm crying because my phone has once again been disconnected by EE, and I'm convinced I've lost my number, my mum's phone."

She explained: "If you're new to this, because I haven't really spoke about it, my mum had a contract with EE and all of our numbers were under that contract; me, my mum and my dad. It was like a plan. I'm not sure what kind of plan, that's been one of the many issues – they say one thing, I say another thing, based off of what was left in the documentation- then that changes."

Frustrating Battle with EE

Storrie described sending multiple documents to EE, including a death certificate, business details, and letters with her address, but the company repeatedly rejected them. She claimed EE kept asking to speak to her mother despite being informed of her death. "They kept saying, 'Can we speak to Janey Godley?' and I kept saying, 'She's dead, here's a death certificate.' And they're like, 'Yeah we feel really bad and we're so sorry but you know this isn't right' and I'm like, 'That's fine, just tell me how to do it right'," she said.

In a follow-up post, Storrie expressed relief that the situation was finally resolved. She wrote: "It's done. EE is done. I have my phone number. My dad has his phone number." However, she added: "The 40 other people who I spoke to who had me sending constant paperwork like it was my administrative job, I will never forgive you."
