Appeal After Emaciated Dog Found Near Ayrshire Farm
Appeal After Emaciated Dog Found Near Ayrshire Farm

The Scottish SPCA has launched an appeal for information after an emaciated dog was handed into a veterinary practice in Ayrshire. The female bulldog crossbreed, estimated to be around five years old, is now receiving treatment at the charity’s Glasgow Animal Rescue and Rehoming centre.

Discovery and Rescue

A member of the public found the dog wandering near a farm in Ayrshire last week. The animal was taken to Vets Now in Kilmarnock, where staff noted its poor, emaciated condition. A Scottish SPCA Inspector collected the dog and transported it to the charity’s facility for care.

The dog’s microchip details are out of date, hampering efforts to trace its owner. The charity is urging anyone with information to come forward.

Condition and Appeal

A Scottish SPCA Inspector stated: “The dog is in a very poor state and she is very skinny. We would like to know how a young dog with no obvious underlying conditions could look like this.”

The inspector described the dog as a medium-sized crossbreed in a “very poor state.” The charity is keen to understand the circumstances that led to her emaciation.
